I read someone's running blog today and it made me nostalgic. So, here it is. I haven't updated this thing since September 30th of last year which is quite ridiculous. A lot has happened in that time. Including me not running the Marine Corps Marathon.
But!
I did run the MCM 10K which was pretty awesome. It allowed me to finish my race and watch my dad run the marathon pretty much from mile 16 on. Why didn't I run the marathon you ask? Well, turns out plantar fasciitis sucks. A lot. I got the diagnosis around the time of my last post. The doctor even told me not to do the 10K, but I felt pretty good the whole time during the run. As soon as I finished, I got my medal, got my clothes and ran to the metro to get to the 16th mile marker to cheer on my dad. Thanks to mobile websites, I was able to track him pretty easily and cheer my little heart out. By the end, he was pretty tired (who wouldn't be after 26.2 miles?!) but super pumped that he was done and had completed a marathon! I've never been so proud of my dad and even though we weren't able to do it together, I felt like it was an experience we'll always have to look back on.
Fast forward to today. We're about 4 months out from the wedding. Everything is very ready to go and I have become so anxious (in a good way) to get to our date. On the exercise front, I have been doing spinning since May and started running again this past week. One of my Matrons of Honor and my dad are planning on doing the inaugural Rock and Roll Marathon Savannah on November 5th, 2011. I really excited about this because I've heard great things about the Rock and Roll races and it helps that it's in Savannah! I love that I'm going to be a part of the inaugural run. We plan on making obnoxious shirts about me getting married and just having fun in general.
I hope I can be better about this over the next 4 months, I think since my training is picking up and I'm sure wedding stuff will pick up as time goes on this will keep me accountable on all ends. :)
Keep on running,
Runaway Bride
