skinny jeans and honeymoons

Hi friends! Runaway Bride here... Haven't been running away too much lately, it's just so darn hot in the South and my true half training doesn't start for another 4 weeks or so.  Spinning though, I've been doing a lot of!  I got back into it at the end of May when my MOH (Megarama) and her hubbie (El Padre) were in town.

See, Megarama and I are running the Rock n Roll together with my dad so I thought we should start working out together even if we're across the country from each other.  So we signed up for spin on a Saturday morning and I got hooked back in.  I've been going 3 times a week for 7 weeks and have no doubt that's aided in my weight loss.  That's right, I've lost 10.2 pounds in the last 6 weeks!  Weight Watchers is just one of those things that works.  For me, at least.  I've noticed that my problem what not what I was eating, but how much and when I was I eating.  Don't get me wrong, I haven't become one of those people that measures and weighs everything I put into my body (who has time for that, plus I'm half Mexican and we never measure anything when cooking!) but I have paid closer attention to how many and how big the servings I get are.  I'm sure if I did get all crazy about measuring and weighing I probably would have been further along in my weight loss, but I'm really quite satisfied with where I'm at.  I put my skinny jeans on this morning and they were loose.  Which is 1. GREAT, but 2. Kinda sad because I love my skinny jeans.  They still look pretty good (probably even better because I've lost a bit around the hips) but I know one day I'll have to retire them and just get a new pair!

Another fun thing that happened this week was the booking of our honeymoon!  We had been looking for the perfect vacay since we basically got engaged.  There's so much we want to experience together, narrowing it down to one trip for our first married trip together was super hard.  We didn't want a completely beachy destination (totally not our thing, anyone who knows me knows I cannot just sit on a beach and relax) nor did we want a place where we had to move around too much when we wanted to do something.  So we decided a cruise would be best, but to where?  We've both been to the Bahamas so that was out. Europe was way too expensive. Alaska doesn't work in November.  So I looked on websites and found a cruise to Honduras, Belize, Costa Maya and Cozumel.  Sounded pretty cool since it wasn't all about the beaches and had some cool "teaser" excursions.  After doing lots of research (again, if you know me, you know I can't do something without thoroughly researching all possible options) I realized this was it.  Our honeymoon.  Of course, I was keeping Sir Fianco informed of all this and he was just very excited to be on a boat where we could eat 24 hours a day and go to 4 different places in one week.  I have to admit, that sounds pretty exciting to me, too!

That's pretty much it from here in the muggy, sweaty, and hot Savannah.  Hope everyone is staying cool!

Keep on running,

100 days!

Hey everyone,

Sorry it's been so long since my last post, although I'm not sure enough people follow to really upset anyone! Anyways, today is 100 days til the Marine Corps Marathon! The college I went to always celebrated 100 days til graduation so I guess it's one of those milestones I'll always remember.  I had a mini panic attack when I looked on the website and saw 100 days.  That means a little more than 3 months! 3 MONTHS! Ok, so down to business.  I tried to take it easy last week because it was a shorter distance week and my heel was killing me. Sir Fianco my resident athletic trainer told me to.  So I ran this week in my new shoes and my heel was still hurting.  Enter the heel donut.  I read through SF's athletic training books and determined I could either get a heel cup or a heel donut.  Apparently the donut is much more economical (since he already has access to the materials) but it reminds me of those people who have to sit on donuts after breaking their tail bones.  Seems embarrassing to to me, even if no one can see my heel donut.  Well I tried my run this morning with it and surprisingly, SF knows what he's talking about! I felt great throughout the run and immediately ice cupped after and while there's still some pain, it's much much better!  I have a 9 mile run this weekend in addition to moving from one apartment to another in our complex.  I'm REALLY excited about that.  I mean, the moving is good because we're getting a better place, but I just mapped out 9 miles on Daily Mile and gasped.
However I am getting a massage and facial on Tuesday morning at Spa Bleu for FREE!  I won a contest on our wedding photographer's blog!  I never win contests but within two days I had won this package and baseball tickets! It was all very exciting.  In wedding updates, we met with our photographer and officialized (new word) our contract! We are so incredibly excited to be working with her.  I want to do our engagement pictures like, tomorrow, but SF and Teresa have talked some sense into me about wearing sweaters and fall clothes in July.... in Savannah.  Did I mention it's currently 100 degrees in our fair city with a heat index of 119? Oh yes.  It's beautiful out.  Let's see, SF and I are on the search for a "day of" wedding planner just to explore our options.  I'm amazed by how fast things add up for a wedding.  I'm not sure that a wedding planner will be in our budget but it's still fun to look around at things.  If all else fails, I have found tons of DIY wedding websites and we have some good friends that would be excellent organizers in the last two days of craziness.  We just would like to have all our guests enjoy the day if at all possible and not have to be in charge of the ceremony.  That's really all we'd need help with.  Well, that's about all I have for today.  I'll update you all on the 9 mile run in a couple days!
Keep on running,
Gracie
